Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you and your loved ones had a safe Memorial Day weekend. What a great opportunity we have each year to remember those who have gone before us, especially those who sacrificed so much for our freedom and safety. I’m grateful for all who have served in our armed forces, especially those who carry the burden of their sacrifice with them years and decades after active duty.
The battle against Covid-19 continues as the state begins opening up its economy. It is important that we stay vigilant and continue to think about the health of vulnerable Utahns as we patronize local businesses. Here are the most recent numbers:
Covid-19 Statistics (as of May 27th)
COVID-19 Cases- 8,706
Reported People Tested- 200,626
COVID-19 Hospitalizations- 716
COVID-19 Deaths- 105
High-Risk Individuals
Last week the Utah Department of Health released recommendations for businesses to protect High-Risk Individuals in the workforce who are unable to do their jobs from home.

Many of the precautions outlined apply to high-risk individuals themselves, but most of the recommended strategies require us as fellow citizens to change habits to be successful. All of us have friends and family who belong to this category. Read the full list of recommendations, here.
Utah Leads Together 3.0
Utah leaders also released the Utah Leads Together 3.0 plan, which builds on previous versions. It includes guidance for high-risk individuals and outlines steps to help ensure multicultural communities are getting the help they need and an economic response aimed at protecting lives and livelihoods. Read the 3.0 plan here.
Unemployment
The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) program is now available for Utahns. Eligible individuals may receive up to 13 weeks of additional unemployment benefits. This is the fifth and final CARES Act program to be implemented in the state. Read more here.
